Hey Good Lookin Vanilla Body Scrub review

Hey all! I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t really function in the mornings without caffeine. I can’t function during the day generally without multiple cups of tea. Did you know though that caffeine can really help the skin, too?

You may have heard of coffee scrubs before, but if not, then I’ll explain the benefits as we discuss the product that I have to show you all today, the Hey Good Lookin Vanilla Body Scrub. The Vanilla Body Scrub is a coffee scrub that is made up of 100% Organic Robusta Coffee, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Vanilla Oil, Almond Oil, Himalayan Pink Blush Salt and Babassu Oil. It is suitable for use on both the body and the face.

We will kick start though with the obvious question; why coffee? Well, the main reason is the caffeine content. When applied to the skin, caffeine is a rich source of antioxidants. It can help to reduce the appearance of both stretch marks and cellulite, it can help to reduce dark circles around the eyes as well as reduce puffiness and it can help to fight fine lines and wrinkles and other signs of premature ageing. In addition to the caffeine, coffee, when mixed with a blend of other skin benefitting ingredients, can help to exfoliate the skin, leaving it soft and nourished.

Hey Good Lookin not only blend their coffee with a range of amazing ingredients that benefit the skin, but they also use Robusta Coffee which is double the caffeine strength of Arabica coffee. It is also 100% organic, meaning that there are no harsh chemicals used in their production and you get nothing but the good stuff for your skin.

Talking of the good stuff for your skin, just read some of the benefits of the ingredients in this scrub:

Shea Butter includes Vitamins A and F, working to help with skin conditions such as eczema, blemishes, dermatitis and wrinkles as well as protecting and rejuvenating dry, chapped skin respectively. Himalayan Pink Blush Salt helps to detoxify, soften and balance, making it great for oilier, blemish prone skin. Vitamin E, which is a skin hero that helps to reduce dark spots, fight the signs of ageing, cleanse and leave the skin looking radiant. Babassu Oil helps to fight acne, lock in moisture and heal damaged skin. Jojoba helps to protect skin and fight against breakouts as well as moisturise and regenerate the skin. Vanilla Extract Oil helps to fight the signs of ageing and protect from environmental skin damage. Sweet Almond Oil also helps to cleanse and is another source of Vitamin A.

It is just full of goodness.

All of this goodness is packaged in a white, re-sealable, recyclable pouch.

So let’s see how well it works.

Application and Results:

To use, you need to apply a handful of the scrub to wet skin and massage in a circular motion. Once massaged in, simply rinse away.

I’ll get another obvious question out of the way at this point now; is it going to be messy? Yes. Yes it is. Whenever I use a coffee scrub I always end up getting it all over the place, but it’s all good. In fact, it’s part of the fun and the charm, and Hey Good Lookin know that too. That’s why they are promoting the hashtag #getmessygetscrubbin, and it’s incredibly suitable for a product like this. You’re gonna be covering yourself in ground coffee, it’s gonna be messy. It’s also going to be worth it.

The scrub massages in well, so you don’t need an absolute ton to cover the entire body. It is also very gentle on the skin with no harsh scratching or irritation.

As the name would suggest, it smells of vanilla coffee. It’s such a beautiful smell, so if you are a coffee lover you will be in heaven just from the scent alone!

Whilst the whole applying and using process is very straightforward, I always find the same issue with coffee scrubs, and that is that they do take a bit of effort to remove. This isn’t a critique to Hey Good Lookin, this is just a general coffee scrub thing. They are far easier to remove in the shower than they are the bath, and as I am a bath person I felt it was an important factor to mention. Is it a deal breaker? Of course not. I’m just letting you know so that you can make sure you have the time to remove it, because if you are in a rush, for example, this would take longer to rinse away than soap.

Once you’ve rinsed away and dried though, it is difficult to be anything but impressed. The skin is left feeling incredibly soft and glowing, as well as incredibly clean. Yeah, you just rubbed coffee all over yourself, but you feel super clean and fresh. And that’s just on the body.

How about on your face? Well, if you are a regular reader of the blog, I’m sure that you are well aware that I have very oily skin that can be blemish prone, and I had great success when using this as a facial scrub. The skin is left feeling incredibly soft, but also with a healthy glow. I know that glow is a scary word to use when it comes to oily skin, but I’m not referring to the greasy type of glow. This scrub actually helps to fight the excess oil and leave the skin with a nice glow, a good glow, the right kind of glow.

Overall, I’ve been loving this scrub. It’s one of those products that does so many great things for your skin, but is also good fun to use. Yeah, you’re gonna get messy, but then you have great looking skin on both your body and face. This is the type of product you look forward to using in the summer before hitting the beach, but also the same type of product you reach for to have a softening winter night pamper session.

I feel that the cheekiness of the brand itself is also a great representation of the product. It’s fun and it works. Do I recommend that you try it? Absolutely.

You can purchase the Hey Good Lookin Vanilla Body Scrub from Hey Good Lookin. Vanilla not your thing? There is also a Coconut variety available. Hey Good Lookin also recommend the coconut variety if you suffer from drier skin.
